About heat transfer paper, 9 questions that you may care about

It can be seen from the above picture that the anti-sublimation hot-melt powder has obvious effect of isolating disperse dyes, but the image will still be dyed for more than half a year, and there will be halo spots.

It has been more than a year since the advent of digital heat transfer paper. Just like when the heat transfer film was first used, there will be various confusions. This article will explain the common problems in the application, hoping to help users understand the digital heat transfer paper (hereinafter referred to as the heat transfer paper). drawing paper) characteristics and make good use of heat transfer paper.

1. Peeling force of heat transfer paper

Some customers feel that the peeling force of heat transfer paper is strong, and some feel similar to heat transfer film. How is the situation?

Heat transfer temperature

The peel force of the heat transfer paper is related to the heat transfer temperature. When the heat transfer temperature is too high, the peel force will increase. For example, when the actual temperature of the hot plate is higher than 160 °C, the peel force will increase. 80 grams of translucent heat transfer paper is suitable. The heat transfer temperature is 145-155℃. If it is too high, the peeling force will be too large. If it is too low, the color of the heat transfer will not be bright enough and the color fastness will be poor. Users can adjust it according to the characteristics and requirements of the fabric.

graphic shape

The peeling force of heat transfer paper to different shapes is different. The small peeling force of the edges and sharp corners of the pattern is to ensure the details of the pattern; the uniform peeling force of the graphic plane is larger than that of the heat transfer film, which is due to the subsurface of the heat transfer paper. Due to the characteristics, the following is the peeling force of heat transfer paper and heat transfer film under different shapes:

Heat transfer paper should not make the peeling force too small, because the paper base is not as stiff as PET film. Large-scale production, storage and transportation of paper.

summary:
①The peeling force of Jinzhan heat transfer paper is proportional to the heat transfer temperature. It is recommended that the actual temperature of the heat transfer plate be controlled at 145-155℃;
②Jinzhan heat transfer paper has a small peeling force at the edge of the pattern to keep the pattern details;
③The peeling force of Jinzhan heat transfer paper on the pattern plane is larger than that of heat transfer film (but smaller than that of traditional inkjet thermal adhesive transfer paper). If there is any inconvenience in individual applications, please tell us the situation, we can customize.

2.The heat transfer paper has a matte effect

During heat transfer, the matt or bright light of the heat transfer medium will be transferred together. Since the heat transfer film generally relies on the glossy surface of the PET film, the light will be transferred to the fabric pattern together during the heat transfer process; while the heat transfer paper It is already matt, and its matt will also be transferred to the fabric pattern during the heat transfer process. Whether bright or matte is better has its own uses, preferences, and arguments, but in most cases, matte images will be preferred. Because clothing is originally matt, traditional clothing silk screen printing is mostly matt, and export clothing heat transfer generally requires matt, because the matt image does not have a plastic feel, and it is just right to use heat transfer paper.

Some disco outfits, stage outfits, and advertising outfits need flashing effects to show their individuality. In these special cases, it is recommended that users of heat transfer paper cover the image surface of the garment with a bright PET film (the thickness of the film should be appropriate) after the heat transfer is completed. Between 0.05-0.1mm) hot iron, transfer the light of the film to the garment image, so that the matte image will show a sense of light.

3. Color fastness of heat transfer paper

The color fastness of heat transfer generally refers to three situations, one is the dry and wet rubbing fastness of the heat transfer picture, the other is the combination fastness of the heat transfer skin and the fabric, and the third is the fastness to hot water washing. It should be pointed out that the heat transfer paper and the heat transfer film are only the medium for carrying the printed image of the paint ink, and they have little to do with the color fastness. The biggest factors affecting color fastness are:

1.Hot melt powder adhesion amount

Heat transfer paper and heat transfer film are both printing media, but the ink absorption capacity is different. The front plate of the powder machine is heated, because the drying of the ink will reduce the adhesion of the hot-melt powder, resulting in insufficient adhesion to the fabric during heat transfer and reduced color fastness.

2.Heat transfer temperature and time

The heat transfer temperature is transmitted to the hot melt powder through the heat transfer paper. Since the thermal conductivity of the 80GSM heat transfer paper is smaller than that of the traditional heat transfer film, the heat transfer temperature can be slightly lower than that of the heat transfer film. It is recommended not to apply the production temperature and time of the heat transfer film completely. , you can use the same fabric to do a small test before the formal heat transfer production, and then produce after obtaining the hot stamping temperature and time that the color fastness is satisfactory.

3.Hot melt powder material

The hot-water washing fastness mainly depends on the material of the hot-melt powder. Please choose the appropriate hot-melt powder for heat-resistant garments that require heat-resistant washing. You can consult the hot-melt powder supplier, or you can buy it after consulting us.

4. Printing arching and suction wrinkling

The obvious difference between heat transfer paper and heat transfer film is that the medium has a water-absorbing effect, so it is easy to make paper fibers absorb water and deform when printing water-based ink. Suzhou Tsinghua Institute of Technology has 30 years of experience in developing and manufacturing various transfer papers. It has optimized the structure of heat transfer base paper, making the wet deformation of the base paper extremely small, and solving the problem of printing arching.

In addition, the heat transfer paper does not have the rigidity of the heat transfer film. During the printing process, attention should be paid to reduce the suction force of the printer table as much as possible, especially when the printing is stopped, please turn off the table suction, so as to avoid the heat transfer paper left on the table. Suck wrinkle.

5. the heat transfer paper is opaque and inconvenient to align

During the trial production, heat transfer paper has been criticized for being opaque and difficult to accurately align heat transfer on clothing. Jinzhan heat transfer paper adopts special measures to make the heat transfer paper translucent.

6. Will heat transfer paper also stick to powder?

The heat transfer film has the problem of sticking hot melt powder in the blank of the graphic, which is annoying. Will the heat transfer paper also stick to the powder? Many trial users have this concern. First of all, please understand the two reasons why the heat transfer film sticks to the powder: one is caused by the cationic adsorption of anionic hot-melt powder of the coating; the other is caused by the static electricity of the PET film. The former occurs when the ambient humidity is high, and the latter occurs when the ambient humidity is low.

Due to the water-absorbing nature of the paper, it is not necessary to lock the anionic ink by strong positive. The user should pay attention to reducing the ambient humidity (such as turning on the dehumidification function of the air conditioner) or slightly heating the guide plate before entering the powder shaker to dehumidify.

The electrostatic adhesion of hot melt powder has not been found on the heat transfer paper. Please let us know if electrostatic adsorption occurs in some occasions.

Another case is that the powder sticks to the edge of the graphic. The solution is to shrink the white ink graphic properly, so that the edge of the color graphic is dry and not sticky.

7. The heat transfer image is oily

The oily phenomenon of the heat transfer image is caused by the glycerin in the paint ink. We add different amounts of glycerin to the paint ink in the experiment. After the sample heat transfer image is placed in a 95%RH humidity chamber, the glycerin content can be clearly seen. High ink images have obvious oil bleed, and low glycerin images have almost no oil bleed.

Experiments show that heat transfer paper and heat transfer film have similar conditions, but heat transfer paper will perform slightly better due to its absorbency. We have seen that some heat transfer films increase the amount of powder on the surface of the film in order to reduce the oily feeling, but more powder will affect the performance of the heat transfer color, and it is not conducive to the firmness of the coating, which is inconvenient for storage, transportation and preservation.

If the user wants to test the oil bleed of the heat transfer paper and the heat transfer film, please do a parallel comparison test under the same environmental conditions.

8. Why does the image of some garments become blurred after a period of time?

Some users reported that after heat transfer on dark clothes, it was good at the time, but gradually the image became blurred and worse after a week. Is this the problem of heat transfer paper?

This kind of phenomenon has nothing to do with heat transfer paper or heat transfer film. This is a common phenomenon of heat transfer on dark polyester fabrics. The reason is that the disperse dyes used for dyeing polyester fabrics will gradually migrate to the dyeing hot melt powder layer and ink layer. Dark polyester fabrics with poor color fastness can even be seen in one day. blurred changes in the image.

The solution is to use anti-sublimation hot-melt powder and choose fabrics with good color fastness. The following is a test of the effect of anti-sublimation hot-melt powder:
